Things were fast paced and it was as if things really didn't register with Emma that she died. That everything she knew was a lie. Yeah, she shed her tears, but then she was quick to move on. No time to really mourn her loses, just jump to the next step. If anything, it felt more descriptive of the motions of loss than the actual feelings that should have been there.
Also, there wasn't really any sharing of the other characters' history to help Emma relate or empathize with her trauma of becoming a vampire. Just "here's some blood. Off you go now." I think that would have at least given her something to work with as she transitioned into this new life of hers.
Overall, there wasn't enough of the raw emotions that should have been there. It would have made everything much more fluid in transitions from one scene to the next. I'm hoping that the next book will be better.… (plus d'informations)
