Lesley Wilkins

Whilst there is some cross-over with Lesley Wilkins' beginner's book, this book concentrates mostly on blackwork samplers. A photo of the finished object is shown, followed by the page/s of patterns to copy. Simple and straightforward, which is just great for anyone learning this craft.

Gives a very clear way to start blackwork and then allows you to make your work as simple or complicated as you please. The design options are numerous.

This is a good book for beginners, but doesn't go beyond that. I would recommend Marion Scolar's 'Why call it Blackwork?' instead.

Blackwork is one of my favorite stitches, and the patterns in this book are absolutely beautiful.
