This is another in the fine Alan Gregory series. Alan's wife, DA Lauren Gregory, is arrested for a shooting on in a Boulder blizzard. The facts are few and the questions are many. This is another good one.

"Barney's Favorite Mother Goose Rhymes" contains very classic Mother Goose rhymes, but what is different with this book is new verses containing Barney have been added to the end of each rhyme. Each new verse with Barney relates to the Mother Goose rhyme and asks the reader to do some sort of action: clap your hands, hug someone, or count to ten. Each rhyme has a double-page illustration of the original Mother Goose character, but Barney and his friends have also been incorporated. An okay read for very young readers who may already like the character of Barney, but if readers do not like Barney (or know of the character) this book may be a little silly.½

An unusual plot makes this one of the more interesting Alan Gregory novels. There are plenty of twists and turns as the story progresses. This is my favorite of Stephen White's novels to date. I've not read them all, or in order, but I am trying to finished the series in the order written.
