Frédéric Weil

A role playing game in which the players play occult beings which occupy different human bodies throughout time. Reminiscent of the 'Highlander' movies, 'Shikasta' by Doris Lessing, 'The Dark is Rising' by Susan Cooper and 'The Shadow Out of Time' by H.P. Lovecraft. This was the last non-Cthulhu game published by Chaosium before the Big Gold Book, and I think the last one where Greg Stafford was still part of the company. I found it clearly written with interesting ideas about magic and the life cycle of a Nephilim. I'm not sure if my players will get into this one, but it was well done.… (plus d'informations)

The setting's interesting and the magic system is definitely unique, if a tad fiddly.

But I read it, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it. It certainly doesn't help that many of the sparser descriptions for fairly important setting-concepts end with "which will be described in an upcoming book" with the promised book never seeing print before the line was canceled.

(An extra editorial pass to catch the typos, jumbled sentences, &c. wouldn't have been out of place either. This is something that plagued the entire line, unfortunately.)… (plus d'informations)
