A Highland Rogue to Ruin by E. Elizabeth Watson

This is a tale of two families that had a chance to create peace and forge an alliance, but something went wrong, and a feud was born instead. There is always hope for peace and the feud to stop but to have that happen secrets need to be exposed…as does what really caused the feud in the first place.

What I liked:
* Tormund MacLeod: head of his clan, seeking revenge for the murder of his brother, wants to know the truth, has a secret, lethal in battle, strong, caring, a good leader, meets a lass that steals his heart when at a clan festival
* Brighde MacDonald: the laird’s sister, protected by her brother, wants to have more freedom, loves to dance, has dreams she is unsure she will ever see come to fruition, kind, caring, good at puzzles and games, horsewoman, meets a laird that steals her heart when at a clan festival
* James MacDonald: laird of his clan, Brighde’s sister, married and expecting his first child, wants revenge and to destroy those that he believes are guilty of his sister’s death, came around as secrets were known
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* The festival events and the time it allowed for Tormund and Brighde to get to know one another
* That I could see this couple were perfect for one another
* The secret that Tormund was keeping and why he was doing so
* Finding out what who the bad guys were and the truth about what happened seven years before
* The conclusion and sailing off into the sunset

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how evil some people can be

Highland enemies!

Well trodden trope of Highlander lairds and their chosen ladies. A tale of betrayal, love, revenge and truth in the highlands of 1547, deftly told.
Lady Brighe MacDonald, sister to James “the Devil” MacDonald, is tired of not having any freedom outside of her brother’s keep. Her opportunity comes during the celebration of the Lughnasadh Harvest Festival, a time when the clans gather for trade, games and festivities.
What Brighe doesn’t realize is that she’s catapulting herself right into the pathway of her brother’s mortal enemy, Tormund MacLeod.
Tormund is focusing on vengeance for his brother’s death. He comes to realize who Brighe is, but it’s too late, she’s slain his heart—he’s her captive.
What will happen, how can they overcome their clans’ attitudes to their love, to have it become acknowledged.
A nicely revealed romance with plenty of drama.

An Entangled Pub. ARC via NetGalley.
Many thanks to the author and publisher.

"3.5 out of 5 stars, two enemies get thrown into a relationship – can it turn into real love, or will it dissolve after the fortnight is over?

This novel was better than I expected. We have two kind characters who do “bad things” because of circumstances and once they get to know one another their relationship ..."

Twelfth Knight’s Bride by E. Elizabeth Watson

In a time when one clan steals from another and the feud has gone on for centuries two enemies are handfasted over the stealing of a few vegetables. Sure, Lady Aileana Grant was only trying to secure a bit of food for her hungry people and hoped to tweak the nose of Laird James MacDonald but little did she realize she might end up married to a man she considers the devil. Will the two part in a few weeks or will they fall in love? Well, it is a romance so…odds are they will have a HEA eventually.

What I liked:
* Aileana: strong, independent, cares for her people, not afraid to work hard, open minded – eventually, loving and kind. She deserves happiness with James
* James: strong, caring, good leader, warmhearted, sees to his people, open to new ways of looking at situations. He deserves happiness with Aileana
* The writing, plot, and story
* The growth of both main characters from the beginning to the end of the story.
* That both main characters were open to seeing the world in a new light
* The setting
* The supporting characters – would like to hear more about them in the future
* That it was a holiday romance
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Knowing the feuds were devastating to both sides and seeing how over time everyone loses
* Saying goodbye to the characters in the story
