A Biography of the Gormenghast author. There are some of Peake's drawings as well as a factual text. I would rate this as not too insightful

Lady Hester Stanhope was born in 1776 and grew up at Chevening House in Kent, Her mother died when she was young and her father remarried but very little interest was taken of the children and as the eldest, Hester took on the mothering role. She later went to live with her uncle, William Pitt, who was then Prime Minister of England and became well known in his "circle". She became quite unsettled following the close deaths of her brother Charles and fiance Sir John Moore, and decided to travel. She gathered her small entourage which included her companion, Elizabeth Williams and her physician, Charles Meryon.
And thus began her adventure which would last the rest of her life and turn her into royalty in the lands that she travelled.
A remarkable story about a quite fearless, if somewhat eccentric woman½
