Forestry A-Z par Ann Walsh
The photographs are large and clear; the alliterative sentences that accompany them (one for each letter of the alphabet)less so. There are too many new logging/lumbering/forestry/silviculture terms (without accompanying photos & labels) for the book to be truly effective. For instance, a skidder is mentioned, so is pulping--no photos are provided of either. Having said that, I did find there were interesting facts here. They just aren't as accessible to kids as I think they should be. Timber! by Jaspersohn is a better choice if kids want to see some of the modern equipment used.… (plus d'informations)
A young boy inherits land from his grandfather, but his father and aunt seem more interested in selling it and using the money for other avenues. Ari has to figure out how to convince them that they are making a mistake, and that he should be the one to decide what to do with the land. This is a Silver Birch nominee for the 2015 2016 year.
This book is knowledge of people who and how take cares about forest. Using the tools, transportation, machines to make enjoyable place to visit. Great alphabet book that letter related of the forest.
