4.5/5 stars- An enjoyable "pawsitive" psychology read!

If you are looking for ground-breaking ideas that provide a fool-proof outline to a life full of happiness, this might not be the book for you. Most of the dogmas presented have been rehashed in a number of books on happiness. After all, the reason they come up again and again is because these are the things that practiced over a long period will improve one's happiness baseline. However, the joy in this book isn't just from the dogmas, but from the way they are presented- each chapter starts with the dogma and a snippet written from the perspective of either Nuka or Marlowe (the author's dogs) and then delves into research from both dog behavior and positive psychology specialists.

The only part of the book that I felt might have been condensed were the chapters on "Fetch" and "Chase". On first read, these felt really similar, as though they could have been combined; however, after mulling it over a while I realized the former dealt with more with the desire for physical things, and the later was about more abstract goals and dreams (at least as it related to humans, for the dogs is was still about chasing physical things).

Overall a quick, fun read- I give 2 paws up!

As a dog lover, I absolutely loved this book. It has taken tidbits that work in various self-help books but added a “pawsitive” twist. I particularly liked the “note” from the dogs on each topic plus the mini dog training sessions along with people training suggestions. The suggestions are pretty simple but the presentation makes it quite a fun read.
