Peter Viemeister

Probably the best book out their about the local history of this beautiful area. Peter Viemeister has written a lot about the area and was chairman of the Bedford City / County museum so the history is accurate. Lots of great pictures and bits about the Peak and environs, I particularly enjoyed the C.C.C. chapter and the early history. The book does drag a bit when the focus turns into who bought what property for how much when, but it all pans out to be a good read. I guess more lore stories would have great. Another mild complaint is that there is no mention of the story of the Beale treasure in this book. I know the reason why, because Viemeister has a whole other book you can buy for 30 bucks about it. Would have been nice to have had a teaser story in here though.… (plus d'informations)
