Has God's Word taken a back seat to our opinion? What do you believe in and why? Who is setting your spiritual agenda? The pastor? Church leaders? Our church institutions? Or you yourself? And as you consider these questions, ask yourself one more: Who cares what God says anymore? The question is valid because an increasing number of Christians today are depending on someone else to do their spiritual thinking for them. As a result, we are becoming a highly opinionated, confused, and spiritually weak people who are vulnerable to deception and to every wind of doctrine blowing about today. "If people would treat their business the way they treat the things of God and faith and eternity," say pastor and author Morris Venden, they would be bankrupt in a few weeks. God Says, but I Think is Venden's latest and most urgent challenge to the church to prayerfully return to complete dependence on God in every aspect of faith and life. It urges us to have a faith that is grounded and centered in Christ and His Word rather than one that is based on the fickle opinions and experience of others.… (plus d'informations)

They say that we're all ignorant--just on different subjects. You may be a waking encyclopedia about computers, but know basically nothing about what's under the hood of your car. Someone else may be an expert on airplanes who know zilch about brain surgery. What a great help it is when someone begins explaining somethin we know nothing about with, A computer (a carburetor...a jet...the human brain) is like... Relating the unkown to the know is the genius of a parable. When Jesus had to get across abstract concepts like faith and love and the kingdom of heaven, that's exactly what He did. The kingdom of heaven is like...He would say, and another parapble was on its way. People couldn't get enough of them. Because they bring heaven a little closer to earth, people still love parables today, as Pastor Morris Venden has discovered wherever he's preached. Those who have heard the modern parables he shares in his sermons are constantly asking him for copies, which he has now gathered into this book. The parables inside? Well, they're like...Then again, why not just read them yourself?…
