Clara really loved her grandmother's hat and wanted to wear it more than anything. She finally could not take it anymore and wore the hat without permission. While wearing it Clara ends up messing it up and tries to fix it to the best of her ability. In the end her grandmother bought Clara her own hat and was wearing the one that Clara tried to fix. This book teaches that doing things without permission can lead to more trouble than its worth.

This story reminds me of the relationship that I have with one of my grandmothers. Clara just wanted to try on her grandmothers special hat that she has always admired. When the opportunity came Clara took the hat without permission and ended up destroying it. Clara tried her hardest to fix the damage, but the hat was just not the same. After putting the hat back and writing an apology note, Clara was devastated. When Mother's Sunday rolled around again, to her surprise her grandmother was wearing the hat Clara fixed. Her grandmother had a box waiting for her also. It was the same hat her grandmother wore. This was something she always dreaming of having. This is a great story about a grandmother and granddaughter relationship. It teaches that doing something without permission can lead to something bad happening. The illustrations were full of emotion and gave the story its meaning.… (plus d'informations)

Clara B couldn’t resist so while her grandmother was sleeping she took the hat and ran. She accidentally stepped on the box for the hat and broke the lid. This lead to her sitting right on the hat, and ruining it. She felt horrible but she tried to tape it together, but her grandmother didn’t say a word. The next Mother’s Sunday at church Clara B found a hat box with the same hat as her grandmother’s for her size. She was so happy, and wore the hat with her grandmother.… (plus d'informations)
