Young nomad tribesman is trained as a wizard/ necromancer. Fantasy story with dwarves/ elves and ogres.

The story was well-written, but I don't like books where I have to read a map or an appendix in order to understand what is going on within the story. Novels should be something you can simply pick up and enjoy without having to put extra research into them.

A solid fantasy novel - great characters, a captivating plot, and lots of action! Though it was sometimes a bit more gruesome than I would've liked, I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to know how it would end. I hadn't read the first book in the series, but that wasn't a problem - now, however, I want to read the first one!

This was a great book. From the start, it was already brimming with action and controversies. This book was not easy to put down. I love the world created by Steve Thomas. I also love the characters such as Jeshu, Vunrata, Krinpet and Gandahar. I especially love the ending. It was an unexpected and bittersweet ending. This is a must read book for fantasy lovers.
