I think the initial idea was good but it seemed like the author tried to tackle too many stories or injustices at once and it just became a hodge podge of messages.

Rosalind longs for her father after mother left him after years of domestic abuse. They have moved to a new town. Her mother has to work, so an older woman, Tillie takes care of Rosalind and her younger sister. Roz's father comes to town with plans of getting his family back. Roz secretly meets with him and agrees to help him with plans to win back her mother. Her father's idea of a reunion does not go as planned and Roz comes to realize that things are not always as they seem.

Very good story. This is a wonderful coming of age story along with the main character learning a life long lesson. I loved the use of Charles Dickens The Christmas Carol. I enjoyed learning a little bit of how the Vaudeville scene worked. There are some parts that will make you cry. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
