This book is seemingly well research with the author accessing Wickes papers at Washington University in St Louis as well as interviews with many who knew and worked with her. However, there were also numerous errors such as page 196 Joel McRae instead of Joel McCrea and page 216 Theresa Wright instead of Teresa Wright. Ronald Colman was referred to as a silent film star on page 197 but he also starred in many sound films including his Academy Award performance in 1947's A Double Life. I also thought it was uncalled for to speculate on Wickes' sexuality. There is a comment that someone saw her having sex with someone but the individual involved does not recall the event. After the author spent so much time telling us about Wickes' morals and church going and the fact that she often turned down films that she found offensive, it seemed strange, and unnecessary, to bring this up. Overall, I learned more about Wickes than I knew previously, and the filmography, bibliography, and footnotes were impressive, but felt it could have been presented better and also had more photographs.… (plus d'informations)
