While browsing at the library this week I came across this book and decided to give it a try. This book is written by Veteran SNL comedian Julia Sweeney, many may know her from her alter personality Pat. This book had me laughing in some parts and gave me a lot of insight into her personal life.

A memoir of sorts from comedian and former SNL cast member (known for androgynous Pat). She writes about adopting Mulan from China and the strange story of how she met her husband. The retelling of how her daughter first asked about sex is hilarious!

This book is worth reading just to hear the incredible way she met her husband! Talk about a "meant to be" relationship!

Heart, soul, humor, truth...what more could you ask for? Delightful read from an extremely talented humorist. A more sophisticated Erma Bombeck.

My gosh, what a delightful, insightful afternoon's read! Reading Julia Sweeney's "If It's Not One Thing It's Your Mother" is like when you're getting to know that amazing woman you just KNOW will be friends with you for life. She's candid, funny (obviously), pragmatic, fanciful - the entire enchillada. And what a writer! I'm recommending this book to everyone - please, please buy it and read it. I can't wait to buy her other books now that I've read this one.

Simply brilliant!. You'll laugh, cry, and snicker inappropriately. Sweeney takes snippets of life and wraps it in warmth. I felt like I was in the favored seat of the town gossip.

If you’re familiar with the character of “Pat” from Saturday Night Live, this book will give you a chuckle. Pat is an androgynous character and no one has ever quite figured out for sure which sex he or she is. Rounded and fluffy, we aren’t sure if she is female with a flattish chest or if he is a man with a nice set of bitch tits! LOL This book reads kind of like a yearbook or scrapbook of Pat’s adventures, with photos, all designed to muddy the waters even further. It was a cute, light read that did nothing to answer the question at hand, but that’s okay. I’m not really sure I *want* to know what sex Pat is anyway! LOL

Julia Sweeney takes us lightheartedly through the serious matter of her personal journey in search of truth. "Surprisingly brilliant!" A must listen/see, especially for those who grew up Catholic.
