The "Wooden Books" series covers subjects which appeal to a certain sort of person of a new-age mystic bent, but their books tend to the factual dispassionate presentation of facts, and this one is no exception.

The Mayan calendar was a rather complicated calendrical system, and this book provides a very thorough explanation, after discussing several other ancient calender systems to provide a little background on how calendars have been constructed throughout history.½
