A fun journey through the history of English to sho why we "bite someone' head off" and, in general, use our own body parts to express emotions. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the impetus of George Lakoff's later analyses of metaphor based upon our physiological reactions. In fact I would be surprised if it were not. Lakoff and his coworkers made the connections more rigorous, but, basically, made the same connections. This is a humorous book and and an easy read.
