Patrick Smythe

The Very Reverend Patrick Murray Smythe, who was born in 1860, kept a fishing diary from March 1872, when he recorded the capture of sixteen sticklebacks and a minnow ("I ate minnow"), to March 1935, his last entry being made only a few days before his death. In this delightful book, which has been edited by his son and is shortly to be published, he mentions a day on Loch Leven with "Old Mr. Butters who spends his summers in fishing and his winters in thinking about it."
