June Smalls

This is a wonderful picture book about the African elephant and herd matriarchs. The text is split between simple sentences for toddlers and a few more sentences on each spread in smaller type for older children. The illustration are soft and beautiful and create a gentle mood. In the back of the book is a list of links to articles and videos that provide more information about things mentioned in the book, such as a video showing how the herd will help a calf who is stuck in mud.
