Amazing but horrific book. Most of it is photography and the book is large, it is a coffee table book, not paperbook to be carried around. The author is a photographer from Canada and she went to Afghanistan to take pictures and speak to women. She was not prepared for the horrors that awaited her. One story was about a 4 year old girl being married to a 6 year old boy and her ' in laws ' beating and torturing her for years. Time magazine rated Afghanistan as the world's worst place to be a woman and it is certainly true.

They have barely any education, live in bombed out buildings, bear child after child most of the time without even any medical personnel. 6% of the country at the time of writing had electricity.

The 'life' for girls and women are so horrific that many set themselves on fire rather than endure another day of beatings, starvation, disease........… (plus d'informations)
