Time Special - 2017-9-1 Sip

I read this book/magazine right after having watched the series on Netflix about the Central Park 5.
That series brought to light only one case of wrongful conviction and imprisonment and inspired anger in many but unfortunately it is not an isolated case. There are so many, any is too many, of all these people who have gone to prison for years for things they never did. Many were weak cases with little evidence, false witnesses or confessions.
This book gives an well researched and factual overview of many cases of false imprisonment. The before and the after. It is maddening how many of these people never should have been convicted but thanks to DNA and the Innocence Project, many have been released and exonerated. When I think of these people and many others like them, it brings such emotion as to how their lives were damaged and what they should have been. They will never get any of those years back and no amount of compensation makes up for what they lost.
The Innocence Project has done magnificent things to go to bat for so many people, many who have have proven innocent because of the Innocent Project and been released.… (plus d'informations)
