This DK reader is intended for level 2 reading and is all about gymnastics. It gives an interesting viewpoint, written narratively about two friends, Hannah and Jessica, how they dream of being gymnasts one day, and what they do at gymnastics classes. With vivid photographs to illustrate the book, various gymnastic exercises are explained, from warm up to somersaults and handstands. This book also shares explanations behind common gymnastic exercises, such as needing to warm up in order to avoid injuries, and practicing backbends because this shape helps strengthen arms and legs. The book also has vocabulary boxes highlighting new words and their meanings, and gymnastic facts of famous Olympic gymnasts and what they were famous for. An excellent example of an informational book because it has an attractive design that is simple and inviting for children since it features two children on a gymnast beam on the front cover, and for all the verifiable facts contained within its pages.… (plus d'informations)

I'm a real fan of DK books.

They're simple. They're informative. They're cheap. If your child is too young to read, they're perfectly good read-aloud books.

What more can you ask for when stocking your kid's library?

The routines in this book are pretty realistic, and the girls' concerns and triumphs are clearly shown - seems like it'd be pretty encouraging to any girl taking gymnastics.
