NCLA Review - Suppose you received an invitation to an event and joyfully replied that you’d come. But when the date arrived, you didn’t show up. Would you be counted as one of the guests? Many people have responded to an invitation to accept Jesus but never “show up” and follow him. One day the author asked himself, “How can I call myself a Christian if I don’t follow Christ?” When he first read Jesus’ commands to his followers, he could hardly imagine taking them seriously. But when he honestly tried to live them—even the commands that many Christians sidestep--he found that it could be done—and what’s more, he then experienced the “easy yoke” that Jesus offers. Christians who have never really turned their lives over to Jesus will find direction and encouragement as they follow Sidders’ efforts, discoveries, and transformation in this candid account of his journey toward spiritual maturity.
