While this book was published in the early 1950s it is still one of the best on the subject. I knew the author, he was my professor for Church History and several other courses at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley California.

One of the better books on Anglicanism, this is a copy of the Book of Common Prayer with footnotes. It tells where the customs and language used in Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and the Holy Communion services come from, whether from Roman rituals, English customs, or "Old Sarum."
Highly recommended for anyone with an Anglican and Episcopalian interest.
