I agree with the review by lpg3d about the nonsense of Laird Scranton's "connections" of Skara Brae to ancient Egyptian and Dogon words and world views. Every time he invokes the word Pharaoh and compares it with Faroe Islands somehow via the word faro I cringe since It's my recollection that Pharaoh is some kind of Greek permutation of the Egyptians' word peraa, not a word the ancient Egyptians had. Other assertions about the similarity of houses, not to mention religious beliefs, seem equally absurd. His leaps of connection defy logic and my comprehension. Fortunately, the few grey scale images make the book not a total loss for me but I will not finish the reading, it hurts my head..… (plus d'informations)

I bought this book hoping to learn something about Skara Brae. I only made it to page 22, when I couldn't take anymore of the nonsense. The author desperately tries to tie the building of Skara Brae to the Dogons of Africa through the Egyptians. The author claims to be a cosmologist. I don't think he knows what that word means.
