A pretty good month. Decent battle report, some lunatic conversions, a big angry orc, what more could you want.

Paul Sawyer's final issue, no pasties in sight. A cool battle report. Some good stuff if you like Lord of the Rings, but the rest is pretty lightweight. A pleasant read though.½

This was a good one, some cool Chaos Space Marine content, a decent battle report, what more can you ask for?

Despite its cartoony aspect this was a very fertile period for GW. There was a fair amount of wacky or silly humour which didn't appeal to everyone - certainly not me at the time. But looking back it all works and doesn't need the reader to understand irony in order to understand that the Warhammer universe is a big joke. The designers' notes on Mordheim are especially good, as was the Four Gamers' final tournament. There was a great article for the absolute beginner, well written and easy to understand. Also a mini-game called Brewhouse Bash that was almost made for playing at school breaks. Plus, an article about making jungle ruins, which I might add to my modelling To Do pile. Also, a couple of great painted armies. Nice!½

Despite the cartoony Space Wolve on the front cover this was a pretty good issue. Golden Demon winners, a fine battle report, scenery building in 10mm, and a lot of Space Wolf fluff.

Twenty years ago this month White Dwarf was all about their game Inquisitor. Whilst the 58mm miniatures are no longer with us, plenty of hobbyists still build and convert warbands for this game, one of GW's best. I enjoyed all the Inquisitor-related pieces in this issue - the background to the game and designers' notes; the staff models; and the battle report. Related was a good article on [John Blanche]'s art. Other good bits are the [[[Warhammer]]] articles on Vampire Counts and the Vampire Arena of Undeath. Mike Walker's article on his Warhammer league is also quite good. Worth a look!

Another fun issue.I especially enjoyed the article about the Alpha Legion (Hydra Dominatus!), and the Path to Glory article. There was also a fine 4-way Battle Report and I also liked the Tomb Kings designers notes even though I don't have a lot of interest in them.

Another cracking issue, this. A great article on the importance of terrain; a new 40k race in the Necrons; a new Realm of Chaos supplement for WFB and an entertaining battle report to go with it, plus Gorkamorka and Epic 40K stuff that wasn't so great.
