I have to say it's impressive how well this was written. It has virtually no dialog in it but great descriptive qualities. It just didn't always hold my interest and I found myself skimming along at times. I did enjoy the sweet love story between Ehd and Beh. You do need lots of imagination for this one though.

I’ve read much better books by this author. I didn’t really connect with the main characters. The heroine was a cipher and the hero pretty cardboard. The political stuff was boring and confusing and the ending was stupid.

This was a random pick from Amazon. What an amazing read. It was told entirely in first person past tense from the hero's POV. This guy was the epitome of the anti hero. He was an asshole and a jerk. He was an alcoholic and a man whore. And those were the better bits of him. When his ship sinks and he is stranded with an innocent young woman his life begins to change as he learns to love her. It was wonderful to watch him come to the realization that he would do anything to save her, anything to keep her from a moment's sadness. The heroine is fairly well rounded, as much as possible when the book is told from his POV and he's crazy about her. I liked her though. She fell in love with him and was determined to convince him that he was worth loving. I like heroine's who are not wishy washy about their love for the hero.

If you like tortured heroes this is definitely the book for you. I don't know as I've ever read a book where the hero hated himself quite so much. His voice was crass and real. I loved how he really seemed like a guy telling you his story.

The only thing I didn't like was the epilogue. It just seemed like unnecessary sequel bait and really I felt it took away from the satisfying feeling I got from the end of the book. That's a small quibble though and I'm just going to ignore it.

Very different. The hero was a caveman and the heroine was a time travelling girl from modern times. Since the book was entirely written in the man's POV, you had to figure all that out from the clues in the things he sees her do. The man lacked the ability to use or understand language but he was still a smart man. He was so adorable. He tried so hard to win her and then to take care of her. The book did an effective job of maintaining a real feel of what would be important to a primitive guy. The first 2/3rds of the book was the best part. It seemed to drag on a bit but at the end you saw why.

Anyway this was something fun and different to read.
