Rogers, Allan Leslie 93 Oct. 08, 1921 Sept. 23, 2015 Al, 93, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., to Charles and Susan Rogers. Al earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut where he met his future wife, Dorothy Dix. Al and Dot married in 1944. He became the head of animal care at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Their five children were born in Maryland. In 1961, he became director of animal care at the University of Oregon Medical School. Al and his family raised dairy goats and horses on their farm in Sherwood. After retiring, he and Dot owned a perennial plant nursery. Al wrote "Saanen Roots" and "Peonies." Al belonged to many animal and flower associations. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; and wife of 68 years, Dot. Al is survived by his children, Suzanne, Cynthia, Kathleen, Robin (Andy) and Richard (Tomi); eight granddaughters; and 10 great-grandchildren. His family is deeply grateful to the Serenity Hospice staff. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road. Donations may be made in Al's memory to Serenity Hospice.
