This is a well-written adventure recommended for grades 3 – 7. Spencer’s parents are involved in rescuing bears. He doesn’t realize the extent of their involvement, nor the existence of technology that lets bears and humans communicate, until they disappear. He helps his uncle and other friends (human and ursine) as they search for them. This first of a series has plenty of adventure and ursine facts.
My only caveat: if you live in bear country, make sure your readers understand that this is a fantasy. It wouldn’t be a good idea to have them try out their few words of Ragayo on a momma bear with her cubs!… (plus d'informations)
