Sleeping Bear by Mark Rigney is the followup book to The Skates. I felt like I had walked into the middle of a movie since I hadn't read the first book. It is an interesting & comical mystery with Renner & Quist working as a team to find the sleeping bear. I gave it four stars. It touches on the paranormal.

"'Reverend Renner?'

"'Yes, I said, this time with conviction.'

'You', she announced, as if she were making the slowest of discoveries, 'don't look like a holy man.'

Now it's true while I am admittedly short, near-sighted, fuzz-haired, & entirely forgettable in every physical capacity, it is equally true that I am not overjoyed to hear anyone besides myself, especially random visitors, dismiss me so quickly. So I drew myself up to my full height (five-foot-two) & said rather crossly, 'I am not a holy man. I am a man engaged in holy work. Now what can I do for you.'"

He had an uncanny ability to react to the supernatural.

I enjoyed this book, but I would strongly suggest reading The Skates first.

I would like to thank Samhain Publishing & NetGalley for a complimentary kindle copy. This did not change my opinion for this review.
