Public Notice: An Illustrated History par Maurice Rickards
Excellent selection of all kinds of notices and posters. Mostly British, a few from Canada etc, and smattering of American ones. Period mostly about 1780 - 1910.
I found this book, which is really a pamphlet with a cloth cover, to be superficial and not really of any use to anyone who actually knows what ephemera is. A few nice pictures scattered throughout. I'm guessing there are better places to start.
Being a photographic collection of WWI curiosa which is mildly interesting. Unfortunately, the reader gets to them only after slogging through the first half of the book's length, a rather uninteresting introductory essay. The illustrations are overwhelmingly b/w, appropriate in many but hardly all cases.
The Bible for those who collect or want to know anything about ephemera. I have consulted it thousands of times.
