While waiting for a streetcar on a corner in Minneapolis, Tom Blake, son of the city's police chief, befriends a young Englishman with a recent head wound and complete amnesia. His efforts to unravel the man's past are deterred when the stranger is kidnapped by a band of Egyptian hoodlums. When Tom and his best friend are also kidnapped by the gang and left to starve in a basement full of stolen mummies, they escape with their patient amidst a rain of gunfire; Tom's parents are mildly concerned, and advise him to stay out of the line of fire in future.
