SOME SEGMENTS FOR 18+ ONLY. Chloe, daughter in a well-connected family of a Chinese mother and an American father, faced a death of a friend in her youth, and it led to her secret life as a contract killer, albeit one with a set of standards. Damon is a homicide detective for the Albuquerque police force with a recent couple of unsolved cases on his desk he is working through. He also has a penchant for motorcycle racing, heavy drinking, and one-night stands during his off hours. When their paths cross during an after-hours event, a sexual attraction builds a strong connection, but one’s secrets and another’s investigation will clash. The story presents two very strong multi-layered characters having to deal with very contradictory emotions and values in a very action and thrills plot. However, this is not a complete story, but rather a novella-length pilot episode of a limited series tale. Any reader who decides to delve into this book should be ready to commit to further books in the series to reach an endgame. In addition, a dedicated reader must be willing to overlook some unlikely hyper plot points and connections which drive characters together in the story. It left me in a contradictory mode.… (plus d'informations)

I was gifted a copy of Jade by the author in exchange for an honest review. That in no way changes my opinion of this book.

I enjoyed reading “Kalil”, book 1 in this series, and was happy I was able to read and review “Jade”, another amazing book by this author, full of romance, action, and adventure. And in fact, I almost like this better than book 1.

Jade and the team are sent on a new mission. However, his attraction to Allie, his partner’s sister, is a bit of a distraction. Jade and Allie seem to push each other’s buttons, and go back and forth, yet, the attraction is quite strong.

Allie is struggling to prove to Jaxon that she’s not a little girl anymore that needs protecting, she can hang with the guys too, and she can definitely hold her own. She is definitely determined that she can do this, she will be a part of the team, and she is not scared.

I really enjoy this wonderful group of guys and how book 2 wraps in with book 1. Definitely looking forward to book 3.

I was gifted a copy of Kalil by the author in exchange for an honest review. That in no way changes my opinion of this book.

As a fair warning, this book touches topics and subjects that are not appropriate for younger readers, and maybe even some older readers may have a hard time with it. I was able to overlook that, and found that the storyline behind it all was wonderful, and if you give this book that chance, you may find the same to be true.

Kalil, the main male character, is an agent in the CIA Special Ops Unit. He takes his job very serious, and lets nothing stand in the way of the mission at hand. However, this mission takes the cake, so to speak, and the one he needs to be protecting just may be the one to distract him the most.

Kalil and his team is placed on a mission to watch, and protect, the main female character, Marisa, also known Shalo. Shalo has been running from West, a serial killer that she escaped from 9 years ago. But bodies start piling up again in her new place, and she had no choice but to run again. Her two best gal friends, Shonda and Rici, are by her side, and the three of them are dynamic, strong, and independent women.

Kalil and Shalo are very attracted to each other, and against better judgement, begin a relationship. But is it a good idea to become romantically involved with the one person you were sent out to protect? More so, since Shalo doesn’t even know that Kalil and his team are watching her, while trying to find West? Will Kalil be able to protect her from West, or is he finally one step ahead of them all?
