Goodreads reviewNo Ordinary Lifeby Suzanne Redfearn (Goodreads Author) 3.71   Rating Details   453 Ratings   136 ReviewsSuzanne Redfearn delivers another gripping page-turner in her latest novel, a story about a young mother's fight to protect her children from the dangerous world of Hollywood. Faye Martin never expected her husband to abandon her and her three children . . . or that she'd have to struggle every day to make ends meet. So when her four-year-old daughter is discovered through a YouTube video and offered a starring role on a television series, it seems like her prayers have been answered. But when the reality of their new life settles in, Faye realizes that fame and fortune don't come without a price. And in a world where everyone is an actor and every move is scrutinized by millions, it's impossible to know who to trust, and Faye finds herself utterly alone in her struggle to save her family. Emotionally riveting and insightful, No Ordinary Life is an unforgettable novel about the preciousness of childhood and the difficult choices a mother needs to make in order to protect this fragile time in her children's lives. Let me start by saying "life" got in the way after I started this book and when I finally got back to it, I found myself milking the final chapters because I didn't want to leave these characters, especially Davina, the "river witch."
Make sure to read the author's note at the end, the idea behind this story that will encourage you to think about what makes you happy in life. Each chapter is from one of the five family members mourning the recent loss of a child/sibling or from Davina, the wounded veteran/local healer/river witch. You feel their pain, forgiveness, growth, and change, and you'll want to stay and settle in by the river with them. Another great must-read by this author!… (plus d'informations)

I was obsessed with this book and loved everything about it! I'm glad I didn't read the back because I thought that was a real spoiler. I thought for sure it was Mo who was going to die. But wow, I thought this book was incredible and hit so many spots deep inside and felt real and raw. And how the aunt/uncle acted different in that situation and the lessons that came along with that and all the interlocking chains in this book with Kyle and the affair. Just wow. I want to purchase this book because I'm sure in a year or two, I will want to read it again. A great book to annotate! And Finn who died, her perspective and watching her family was such a great perspective where you got to see her insight and what was really going on with everyone. Fantastic book. I had no idea I was going to love it this much!… (plus d'informations)

So many emotions thread their way through this book! The story unfolds with a college student with a long history of drugging and raping young women, a man who so far has slid under the radar of conviction, thanks to family money.

Although this book follows up on the lives of Mo, Kyle, and Chloe from IN AN INSTANT, eight years later, yet it is a stand-alone read (which also includes Hunter from HADLEY & GRACE - my favorite character.) We get an update on Mo and Kyle’s relationship, her successful start-up company, and Chloe’s life after Eric, her family losses from eight years ago, and her struggles to make her portable vet business succeed. How they have moved on, yet carry the weight of survivors' guilt and the way tragedy shaped their decisions.

My blood pressure rose as I read this story shining a light on how money skews justice, the way Allen traumatized and destroyed Hazel, and other women before her, yet I also cheered for the friendship and solidarity between Mo, Chloe, and Hazel (and Kyle’s emotional support for Mo.)

The chapters are told from Mo and Chloe’s POV, and are laced with vengeance, perseverance, trust, and the search for truth and closure. I’ve enjoyed every book by this author, and I highly recommend taking the time to read her acknowledgments when you finish (or cut to them before the story) to read the fuel behind this book.

Thank you to the author and Lake Union Publishing for providing me an early copy of this book.
