All of the elements from the previous season combine to present the strongest episodes of the show's run to date. The opening episode features a references to classic film in "Bart of Darkness" and follows up with a literary reference in "Lisa's Rival." Some of the most memorable songs are present in this season, from the Stonecutter's Theme to "See my Vest." The traditional features are also strong, witnessed in one of the more memorable Treehouse of Horror collections and a biting political satire featuring Sideshow Bob. This season gives a glimpse at a potential future for Lisa and the rest of the family and gives slight insight into Marge's family in "Fear of Flying." The most neglected member of the family origin is explored, and Homer's love and sacrifice for Maggie presents one of the most emotionally affecting moment of the season. Trips to Australia, substitute teachers, a comet and a new job for Homer as a clown and Marge as a cop all are other strong moments that are present in this season. The people and the places that have been honed to perfection all contribute to the season's strength, capped by the ambitious season ending cliffhanger "Who Shot Mr. Burns." How far the show has come is evidenced in the always weak clip shows, as the improvements are shown in stark relief.

This one starts slow but ends up being pretty satisfying. Still, compared with most other Pixar efforts, it falls short.½

A trash-compacting robot falls in love.

Amazing. Probably the perfect movie. It is a bit strange that I seem to be the target audience; someone making a movie that is exactly the movie I want to see is pretty much the last thing I would have expected to ever happen.

Wall-E and his pet cockroach are alone in a garbage wonderland that is Earth until EVE shows up looking for plant life. What follows is an adventure as Wall-E follows EVE back to the ship where the humans are. Children and adults will enjoy this film and both groups will get something different out of their viewing. For adults, there is certainly the environmental message and for children the friendship that forms for a lonely robot who has a pet cockroach will delight them. As a Disney/Pixar production, the expected crisp computer animated imagery with lush backgrounds are present, mostly in cooler tones. Although the story revolves around Wall-E and EVA, there are other characters as well that will intrigue kids. On the DVD, the deleted scenes an extra shorts are quite humorous. The message of the film is protect the environment. The way it is delivered is fun and interesting and dulls the sharp edge of the environmental criticism. It might be Disney, but it's not your typical prince charming meets a princess in distress type of story. Here, it is the princess, EVA, that does the rescuing, and both EVA and Wall-E are the ones that come together and help the people around them. Children (and adults) who love space travel, robots, and/or environmentalism will enjoy this film. Highly Recommended.
