- Christopher Rankin grew up with a love of science, animals and horror movies. Creating Monsters is his first novel and he is currently finishing his next book, Ann Marie's Asylum, a psychological thriller based on a true story of a scientist's terrifying experiments with hallucinogenic plants. He studied engineering at Rutgers University and received a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, researching the nanoscale electrical properties of soft condensed matter. He currently lives in Orange County, California with his future wife, Jennifer, and an undisclosed number of cats. His influences include such writers as Carlos Castaneda, Philip. K. Dick, Stephen King, Aldous Huxley and Michael Chabon. Others include: Terence McKenna, William James, Carl Jung, Noam Chomsky, David Lynch, Alexander Shulgin, Werner Heisenberg and Alice Miller.
