Ein überholtes Buch. Es ist zum Gähnen langweilig, da dieses Werk zwar erste Schritte zum Leseverständnis lehrt, aber, weder einen didaktischen Anspruch noch ein Konzept hat. Es gibt fast keine Erklärungen ... und es ist in keiner Weise ansprechend. Keine Aha-Erlebnisse, was eine interessante und schwierige Sprache betrifft. Man müht sich wirklich damit ab, durch die Lektionen zu kommen. Die Übungssätze sind langweilig und haben keinen Zusammenhang.
Gebe trotzdem zweieinhalb Sterne, weil das Buch aus einer anderen Epoche stammt, und heutige höhere Ansprüche an Lehrmaterialien einfach damals nicht gestellt wurden.

This book is outdated and boring. While guiding you towards acquiring Old Irish reading skills, it does not have didactic ambitions or clear plan. No explanantions are given, and you have to force yourself to plow through it. There are no heureka moments offered while studying this interesting but difficult language. The exercises are dull and strung together without context.
Still, two and a half stars -- as this book is from another era and Quin was a great scholar, even if not a gifted instructor. Maybe then, students were meant to "study now, understand later" and did not expect "Seanghaeilge dan dua" (Old Irish wihout toil.… (plus d'informations)
