I purchased this book while in Richmond and started reading while there as well. It is a great first hand account of the war and southern perspective on the American Civil War. I enjoyed the honesty of the author's perspective. The best part of the book for me was the perspective that it gave me while visiting Richmond and also after I returned home as a reminder not just of the places I visited in Richmond but also to give me a perspecitve of the people who lived through the times told to me first hand through this book.

Highly recommended to anyone with a desire for Civil War History or for those planning a visit to Richmond to experience the Civil War's mark on this great historic community.… (plus d'informations)
