This reminded me of past pet snakes I've known, some that escaped, and others that bit. Fear of snakes seems natural to me. They are wil and unpredicatble creatures. However, understanding and respect seem to be the better treatment method. This was a fun story told in verse. I enjoyed it.

This is a great book filled with rhyming. A boy finds a snake and takes him in as a pet. His snake, Jake, escapes and makes the family go crazy trying to find him. The illustrations are nicely done. This is definitely a fun book to read.

ake brings home a snake for a pet. The snake escapes. The family looks everywhere for it. When they can’t find it they take their blankets outside to sleep. They find the snake in the hammock because it prefers to be outside.
