The target audience for this book is the media industry, and it serves as a guide to anyone interested in understanding and supporting disabled artists in this domain. As an outsider to both the industry and disability in general, it allowed me a good hard look into the daily minutiae of such artists. One of my favorite things about this book was that the author focused on constructive solutions to problems and offers realistic options to young artists, as opposed to complaining or sulking (and there seems to be a lot to complain about). Disability is accepted as a part of life and society, and he asks how we can ensure that everyone sees it the same way. Strong, clear arguments and invaluably useful resources make me hope that anyone who aspires to be a part of the movie/TV/theatre community be recommended to read this book; it's not a very long read.

That being said, the author's message sometimes gets lost in translation. Better editing and sentence polishing would make this much easier to read. I would have liked to read about how artists with mental disabilities could integrate into the performing arts as well, but I suppose that is a different subject entirely.

A lot of the book has to do with acting. I didn't feel this was relevant to the subject matter. I would've liked to see more emphasis on disability representation in the media. Which is what I thought the book was about.… (plus d'informations)
