It's easy to excel in something you know but when you are thrown into unfamiliar waters, things can get a little difficult. Carmen is a fourth grader at Victory School for super athletes and her super ability is dribbling. During the Summer she attends Playa Victoria in hopes of successfully learning how to surf. Will her super ability be enough to ride the wave out or will she get washed away? This book is predictable and doesn't really leave the reader wanting to know more after each page. On a different note, when observing the illustrations, it's easy to see that Jorge Santillan does a good job at distinguishing kids from teenagers. On one page he purposely draws Carmen's head bigger than the teen who is supposed to be teaching her how to surf. Her body is smaller and her eyes are slightly bigger as well.… (plus d'informations)
