4577. Judge Richard S. Arnold A Legacy of Justice on the Federal Bench, by Polly J. Price (read 29 May 2009) This biography by a former law clerk to Judge Arnold is hagiographical but full of interest. He was born Mar 26, 1936, and died Sep 23, 2004. His life was a most interesting one, and he came close to being on the U.S. Supreme Court--only his uncertain health stopped Bill Clinton from appointing him, Not all of his positions do I agree with, but he was a hard-working and extremely able jurist. He had a big role in the Little Rock desegregation case which went on for many years after 1957, and had many other big cases on the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is the greatest judge not to sit on the Supreme Court in his lifetime--even as Learned Hand was in his lifetime.… (plus d'informations)
