The editing is just atrocious. I counted at least six instances where phrases were repeated. Some of them look like the seam of a galley edit, the author or someone on the editorial team having found a mistake, but instead of deleting the offending phrase, it repeats it with the correction.
Examples:
"It is bad news for cows because it can lead to an udder infection called It is bad news for cows because it can lead to an udder infection called" (23).
"The scary thing about BPA is that small amounts of it can cans for soup, juice and baby formula. The scary thing about BPA is that small amounts of it can leach out of containers and into the food or drink inside" (64).
"Some brands of nonstick have been simmering with cookware have been simmering with controversy" (67).
"While we're in the kitchen, about hand sanitizer. These let's talk about hand sanitizer. These..." (136).
"Don't be fooled by pinkwashing, practice in which companies position the practice in which companies position themselves..." (162).
"In developing nations it is uncommon for children to work thirteen hours or more per day, enduring not uncommon for children to work thirteen hours or more per day..." (194).
Now, to be fair, I have found a few instances like this in my own books, so I know what it's like, and how dreadfully hard it is to get all the details just right. Nevetheless, hese errors were arresting and tended to bring down my appreciation of the otherwise great content.… (plus d'informations)
