Star Wars: Sana Starros – Family Matters collects issues no. 1-5 of Sana Starros written by Justina Ireland with art by Pere Pérez; colors by Jay Davis Ramos, Dono Sánchez-Almara, and Fer Sifuentes-Sujo; letters by Travis Lanham; and cover art by Ken Lashley and Juan Fernandez. Spinning out of her appearances in Doctor Aphra and the other Star Wars titles, Sana returns home to her grandmother Thea’s house on Hosnian Prime. There, she reunites with her cousin Aryssha and Aunt Mevera. Aryssha is pregnant with twins from Imperial officer Cerasus, whom she naïvely thought she could fix. Unfortunately, Cerasus comes with his troops and abducts Aryssha. He collects a Starros family artifact in the process: a cube with data on how to expand energy output from crystals. The Starros family goes in search of Aryssha and their family secrets, hoping to retrieve both from the Imperials. Further complicating their family matter is the presence of Phel, Sana’s brother, who now works for the Empire.

The Starros legacy data connects to the plans the build the first Death Star while other references tie into the various Doctor Aphra stories and Solo: A Star Wars Story, with Sana’s grandmother having previously run with Enfys Nest. Appearances from Hondo Ohnaka and references to Maz Kanata make this a solid story set amid the smuggling culture of Star Wars. As this story focuses on characters who primarily appear in Star Wars comics, it will mostly appeal to those who have read those comics and followed the characters over the years. Ireland and Pérez’s story is a fun family-centric heist for longtime fans.
