Glenn Laurentz Pearson (1918–1999)

A sad example of current institutional Mormon scholarship, or what passes for scholarship. This book has no value as a work of Old Testament scholarship, but is enlightening for what it discloses about the ridiculous assumptions mainline Mormonism makes about the Bible in general, and certain parts of the Old Testament in particular.
The book also manifests hostility to mainstream biblical criticism thoughout, accusing Jewish and Christian biblical scholars of (intentionally?) sewing the seeds of apostasy and discord wherever they go.
In summary, don't bother if you're looking for serious Old Testament scholarship. Read it for grins and giggles, and pray that what Prof. Pearson says is the "Mormon perspective" on the Old Testament merely represents the mutterings of the nutcake fringe.… (plus d'informations)
