Meanwhile, the Omega Rangers return to Earth to kidnap Drakkon from Zordon’s custody in order to track the Empyreals. They burn their bridges with Zordon in the hope that they can learn how to defeat the very creatures that destroyed a Morphin’ Master, but no guarantees. Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal more about Zordon’s time fighting for Eltar as well as the childhoods of Rita and Astronema. Parrott continues to build on what came before and show how the saga of the Power Rangers can be reinterpreted to tell dramatic, mature stories for those who watched the series back in the 1990s. The stories continue to focus on the fallout from the Shattered Grid storyline that helped resolve the conflict with Lord Drakkon, though it left empowered throughout the universe with direct connections to the Morphin Grid, causing chaos. Flashbacks continue to focus on Tommy’s early leadership experiences as the White Ranger while Jason, Zack, and Trini prepare to leave the team, having selected Rocky, Adam, and Aisha as their replacements. While the original Red, Black, and Yellow Rangers ostensibly depart to attend a peace conference in Switzerland, in reality the Blue Morphin Master selected them to become the Omega Rangers and help the empowered so they no longer pose a threat to themselves or others. As the story progresses, things seem increasingly bleak for the Power Rangers: Lord Zedd works to recharge the chaos crystal in order to defeat the Mighty Morphin Rangers while the Omega Rangers face a being calling itself the Empyreal that has the ability to destroy entire planets. The Rangers on Earth only succeed through the intervention of Grace Sterling’s Promethea endowing someone with the Green Ranger powers while the Omega Rangers narrowly escape. Meanwhile, in the coinless universe, the Ranger Slayer must unite the factions left behind in Lord Drakkon’s wake to defeat a resurrected Rita Repulsa.

A solid continuation of Boom! Studios Power Rangers comics in a beautiful deluxe hardcover edition for collectors.
