Written in the late interwar period (1931) The Accidental Adventurer is about Mr Dick Trenchard's , well, accidental adventure.

Mr Trenchard's a resentful office clerk, sent to chase up a problem at the docks he steps onto the wrong boat and a bit of bumbling later finds out the boat he's on is smuggling arms out of England to a foreign country. Being 1930s simply killing such an intruder was unheard of, rather you'd merely drag them across the ocean so they couldn't tell anyone about your crime. After all you're a smuggler not a murderer. Enter a quaint little voyage across the sea to Honduras where a revolution is taking place (hence the guns).

Poor Dick however is up to his eyeballs in trouble as the boat is damaged and the crew decide to fight in the revolution.

It's a nice adventure caper (that's been poorly described by me) in Parkman's favourite genre - seafaring. Paints a nice picture of 1930s tramp steaming.

Sunk Without Trace is a crime caper set in England and France in the 1930s. Poor 24 year old Ralph accepts a job offer as personal secretary to a man he meets on a train. The job initially involves accompanying the new boss on a trip to France in his yacht.

From when Ralph arrives at the yacht, which turns out to be far less glamorous than envisaged, things begin to go off course as a dead body is pulled out of the water before they have even left England. Then suddenly he finds himself elbow deep in some type of criminal undertaking from which is cannot easily escape.

And he meets a lady. Whom he's sweet on.

A pretty good little sea going adventure and romp through early France.
