Well written in a clear, relaxed style. An interesting survey, description and explanation of how the universe has been viewed and explained in the west from ancient times to the present. The emphasis is on pre-modern theories. Parks always shows respect for the conceptions and efforts of those in the past who speculated about how the world was set up and functioned.
