I received an ARC of this book and am so delighted with it - as a former teacher, librarian, and bookseller I have rarely seen a book that drew me in so completely. The illustrations, mostly grayscale with some muted color, are understated; whimsical creatures portray the emotion described in impactful but non-threatening ways. Even the creatures feeling anger, fear, and envy evoke discussion rather than being disturbing.
Each feeling is described with a brief but brilliant sentence: " Anxiety juggles", "Nostalgia sniffs a scarf", "Calm pets a dog" - so accurate and yet unexpected.
