Memories of food from different cultures, e.g. Caribbean, Norwegian, Greek, British - with reference to class, sensuality and the politics of food, from a feminist publishing house. This nature of literature was more widespread in my youth, with the likes of Spare Rib (1972 - 1993) - is it only literature students who encounter feminist writing now? The stories behind the recipes entice one to try them. Many of the contributors are 'ordinary' women but also included are the actress, Julie Christie, and the writer, Angela Carter.
